SSG.com announced on the 28th that it will launch the 'Baro Quick' service, which delivers Emart products within an hour of ordering through the app, starting from the 1st of next month.
The Baro Quick service enables fast delivery within a 3 km radius of Emart stores using delivery scooters. The minimum order amount is 20,000 won, with a delivery fee of 3,000 won. Ordered products will be packed in separate bags (sold for 100 won) at Emart stores, while refrigerated and frozen items will be delivered in special cooling packs and separate bags. Delivery status can be checked through the SSG.com app and push notifications.
The Baro Quick service will begin at 19 Emart stores located in the metropolitan area and regions such as Chungcheong, Daegu, and Busan, with plans to expand nationwide in the future. In the Seoul area, the targeted stores include Wangsimni, Mapo, Eunpyeong, Wolgye, Hawolgok, Jayang, Mokdong, Sinwoul, Guro, Yeoksam, Cheonho, and Garden 5. Other areas included are Gyeonggi (Dongtan, Suwon, and Seosuwon), Chungcheong (Cheonan and Cheonan Terminal), Daegu (Suseong), and Busan (Munhyeon).
Baro Quick orders can be made from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (some stores until 9 p.m.) in the dedicated Baro Quick section created on the main screen of the SSG.com app. Products eligible for Baro Quick service are marked with an iKON.
A total of over 6,000 items will be available, with plans to continuously expand the selection. Items include fresh and processed foods certified by Emart, as well as groceries and daily necessities from Emart's private brands, Peacock and 5K PRICE (Okay Price). Ready-to-eat items such as gimbap, sushi, skewers, and Dakgangjeong prepared at Emart stores will also be sold. Additionally, a variety of lifestyle products and pet supplies including kitchen and bathroom items, stationery and office supplies, and beauty and fashion items can also be ordered.
According to global market research firm Statista, the domestic quick commerce market, which is expected to reach 4.4 trillion won this year, is projected to grow to 5.9 trillion won by 2030.
SSG.com aims to enhance platform growth by providing consumers with various delivery options. Following the same-day delivery service 'SSG Delivery' (morning, afternoon, and Traders) and next-day arrival guarantee 'Star Delivery,' it plans to secure delivery competitiveness with the introduction of immediate delivery 'Baro Quick.'
Han Geon-su, the SCM manager at SSG.com, noted, 'Through Emart stores accessible nationwide, consumers can quickly receive products that are popular among them,' and added, 'We will gradually expand the fast delivery service to reflect regional demand.'
