The Korea Consumer Agency (KCA) and the National Institute of Technology and Standards announced on the 28th that they will proceed with a full recall of some bottle washer products due to the potential for internal component damage. The affected products include a total of 30,403 units from two brands: 'Orte' (Sam Buh Ja) and 'Sovemom' (Jade & International).
The two products were subjected to this action due to the determination that some components exposed to high temperatures, humidity, and vibrations during the washing and drying processes could be damaged. Manufacturers will provide refunds or exchanges for products produced during the period in which the manufacturing defect was acknowledged, while other products will receive free repairs (component replacements).
The agency recommended that consumers holding the affected products immediately stop use and proceed with the recall process through the official websites of each company. Products eligible for free repairs will undergo continuous inspections regarding the status of identical components.
Additionally, given the high consumer interest in the safety of bottle washers, there are plans to conduct additional investigations on commercially available products, including checks for microplastic detection, and to publish the results.
