Subway announced on the 25th that it will sequentially end the sale of its limited menu item 'taco salad' by the 27th, depending on stock availability at each location.
The taco salad is a new menu item launched on the 5th, which has garnered attention on social media as a product based on a modicum consumer recipe (modifying food to create one's own recipe). It consists of pulled pork taco salad and spicy shrimp taco salad, and the unique feature is that it can be eaten like a taco with the whole wheat tortilla that is served with the salad.
According to Subway, the taco salad sold more than 400% of the expected quantity within a week of its launch. Subway explained that it set a new sales record among limited edition salad menu items.
Due to faster-than-expected stock depletion, Subway suspended sales on delivery platforms and other online channels starting on the 22nd. The company plans to end sales sequentially by the 27th, based on stock availability at each location.
A Subway official said, 'The taco salad is a meaningful menu created together by customers and the brand,' adding, 'Although it will end early due to stock depletion, it is planned to be reintroduced in the future.'
