A male worker in his 50s at a Coupang logistics center has died, and police are investigating the cause of death.
According to police and others on the 21st, a worker identified as A, in his 50s, died around 9:11 p.m. on the 20th while sorting items in the frozen storage of the Coupang logistics center located in Namsa-eup, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. A collapsed for unknown reasons and was transported to a nearby hospital but died about two hours later.
The location where A worked dealt with fresh produce, and it has been assessed that an accident did not occur.
Police plan to investigate specific causes, including whether A had any illnesses.
A Coupang official said, "The deceased started working as a day laborer at the center handling fresh produce in early July and has worked intermittently for a total of 18 days, 1 to 4 days a week, 8 hours a day, until recently. The police are investigating the exact cause of death, including any underlying health conditions, and I understand that medical staff confirmed the death. We express our condolences and send our thoughts to the bereaved family."
