Lotte Department Store announced on the 20th that it has become the first in the retail industry to receive certification for its human rights management system.
Human rights management is a management approach that implements activities necessary to realize the dignity and value of stakeholders, including employees, customers, partners, and the local community.
The Korea Management Certification Authority developed a certification system based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the National Human Rights Commission's guidelines for human rights management in accordance with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards. Currently, it is known that six corporations, including Lotte Department Store, have received this certification.
In 2023, Lotte Department Store conducted a 'third-party human rights impact assessment' through the Korea Management Certification Authority, receiving an 'excellent' level, and was evaluated as 'top-notch' last year.
A representative from Lotte Department Store stated, "As we have obtained certification for our human rights management system first in the industry this year, we will continue to prioritize 'respect for human rights' as our foremost value and lead the industry."
