Lotte Mart announced on the 19th that it will begin selling freshly caught blue crabs from the west coast starting on the 21st, immediately after the ban period (June 21 to August 20) is lifted.
A ban period is applied to protect crabs during their spawning season. The products that Lotte Mart is selling this time were caught at dawn on the same day the ban was lifted, and will be delivered alive in the afternoon. By signing contracts with over 40 fishing vessels from major crab producing areas, including Gyeokpo Port in Buan and Sinjin Port in Taean, they have prepared approximately 30% more volume compared to the previous year.
A 20% discount will be applied during sales if purchased using a promotional card until the 27th.
A Lotte Mart official noted, "We have mobilized all of Lotte Mart's local network and expertise to quickly provide fresh blue crabs" and added, "We will continue to strive to sell seasonal seafood at reasonable prices while ensuring they are ultra-fresh."
