Comprehensive liquor company Ayoung FBC recently announced on the 13th that it will introduce wine curation under the keywords "ogen (estrogen)" and "tetto (testosterone)," which have been receiving attention among the MZ generation.
According to Ayoung FBC, the "Ogen vs Tetto wine curation" will apply the Ogen and Tetto personality test to the selection of wines, showcasing the same varieties but with completely different impressions and styles. The Ogen and Tetto personality test categorizes individuals into "sensitive and sensuous Ogen type" and "solid and assertive Tetto type", regardless of gender.
The variety prepared by Ayoung FBC for this curation is Cabernet Sauvignon. A spokesperson for Ayoung FBC noted, "This well-known variety has a heavy and deep structure but can give a soft and sensuous feel depending on the production area and the winemaker's interpretation." They added, "The Ogen type wines are prepared with a style that has a delicate texture and harmonious balance, while the Tetto type wines focus on a strong structure and heavy body."
"Ogen type" Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of wines that embody organic purity and elegant harmony. The "Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon" uses grapes grown organically in Mendocino County, California. It harmonizes flavors of cherry, raspberry, soft vanilla, and oak. The wine is characterized by silky tannins, medium body, and elegant balance, pairing naturally with cheese or herb-based pasta.
"Unanimé" is a premium red wine made from grapes grown in the Uco Valley of Mendoza, Argentina. Peter Koff, a Master of Wine who appeared on the YouTube channel Wine King, referred to it as "a wine worth its price." It features concentrated aromas of black plum, rose, dark chocolate, and tobacco, enriched with mineral touches and subtle pepper notes. The silk-like soft texture combines deep tannins and balanced acidity, finishing with a long aftertaste. Ayoung FBC noted that it has a refined style that captures the preferences of both men and women, freely crossing the boundaries of softness and strength.
The "Tetto type" wine curated is "The Federalist Cabernet Sauvignon." Made from grapes cultivated in the sun-drenched and cool climate of the Central Valley's Lodi region, it combines rich fruit aromas of blackberry and blueberry with spicy notes of cinnamon and cardamom. It impresses with its dense tannins and long, powerful finish, complementing robust meat dishes such as steak or lamb.
"The Master" is produced from grapes grown in high-altitude vineyards at the foot of the Andes in the Maipo Valley, Chile. The Fuentes Alto (650m above sea level) and Pirque (570m above sea level) vineyards boast the coolest climate in the Maipo Valley. This allows the grapes to mature slowly, concentrating their aroma and structure. The deep red color features layers of cherry, cassis, blackberry, cedar, graphite, and subtle smoke flavors, creating complex tastes. The sturdy tannins and long finish reveal the wine's strength and weight.
Ayoung FBC's spokesperson stated, "We planned this Ogen vs Tetto wine series so that consumers who find wine difficult can easily choose wines that suit their preferences." They added, "As we have carefully selected based on quality and style, I believe it can satisfy everyone from beginners to enthusiasts, making it a fun experience similar to taking a personality test."
The Ogen and Tetto series wines can be purchased at 12 direct stores of Wine Country (main branch, Kyunghee Palace branch, Myeongdong branch, Seorae Village branch, Seongsu branch, City Hall branch, Sinchon branch, Apgujeong branch, COEX branch, Hongdae branch, Ilsan branch in Gyeonggi, and Songdo branch in Incheon) and on the Wine Country website.
