Coupang Logistics Service (CLS) announced on the 11th that the proportion of delivery drivers taking off days among all contracted delivery drivers exceeds 30%. It also noted that the number of drivers on leave daily is more than 6,000.
CLS has introduced a backup driver system for the first time in the industry, creating conditions for contracted delivery drivers to work fewer than five days a week. CLS operates a system that allows contracted delivery companies to secure backup drivers from the contract stage.
It also added that the stable operation of the backup driver system has been established through CLS's own delivery personnel (Coupang Friends) providing delivery support.
According to a recent survey conducted by the Korean Society of Logistics and Technology targeting contracted delivery drivers, 62% reported that they are delivering fewer than five days a week. Coupang explained that this is a high level compared to other companies (1-5%).
