KT&G announced on the 6th that it has urgently provided summer supplies for vulnerable groups facing difficulties due to extreme heat and heavy rainfall in the midst of the climate crisis.
On the 5th, KT&G supported a cooling material pad and blanket set worth 50 million won for 1,000 vulnerable elderly people living in poor conditions nationwide. The supplied items are set to be delivered to local senior welfare centers through the Korea Elderly Welfare Association.
In some regions, KT&G's employee volunteer group conducted volunteer activities to deliver supplies directly to elderly people suffering from the heat.
This support was made possible through the 'KT&G Imagination Fund' established with employee contributions. The Imagination Fund is a social contribution fund created by matching the amount donated by employees with an equal amount from the company, and since its launch in 2011, it has supported a cumulative 47.5 billion won for vulnerable groups both domestically and internationally, as well as disaster relief efforts, until last year.
A KT&G official noted, "We hope this will help with the health management of elderly people who are struggling due to the heat," and added, "In the future, KT&G will continue to grow with the community and fulfill its social responsibility as a corporation."
