Haitai Confectionery announced on the 4th that it will launch a limited edition of Yeonyang-gyeong to commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation.
Yeonyang-gyeong is Korea's first snack, created in 1945. This limited edition launch event was planned in collaboration with the Seoul Regional Veterans Affairs Office to convey the true meaning of the independence movement. The Seoul Regional Veterans Affairs Office selected 'liberation babies' (people born in 1945 when liberation was achieved) Yeonyang-gyeong as the protagonist to awaken the spirit of national defense and veterans.
The limited edition for Liberation Day has a quantity of 800,000. The limited edition package features five locations symbolizing the independence movement: ▲ the Korea Provisional Government Memorial Hall ▲ Seodaemun Prison ▲ Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall ▲ Kim Gu Memorial Hall ▲ Independence Hall, and descriptions of these locations are also included. Additionally, the characters 'Gyeongi', representing Yeonyang-gyeong, and 'Bobo', representing the Veterans Affairs Office, are featured together, merging history, brand, and public messaging.
There will also be an 'Independence Movement History Tour Event' that involves directly visiting historical sites. After visiting the five symbolic locations, participants can register a certification photo on the Haitai Confectionery website using the package's QR code for a chance to win couple sneakers.
A Haitai Confectionery official said, 'This is a national defense and veterans edition that embodies gratitude and respect for the patriots who dedicated themselves to Korea's independence, marking the 80th anniversary of the launch of our country's first snack, Yeonyang-gyeong.'
