As a heatwave continues across the country, convenience store CU is strengthening its public campaign for 'heatwave shelters.'
BGF Retail, which operates CU, announced on the 23rd that it has reached an agreement with franchisees to operate 'heatwave shelters' in all CU stores so that all customers, including children, pregnant women, and the elderly who are vulnerable to the heat, can take a break from the heat in CU stores.
The aim is to enhance the role of a community safety platform by utilizing the characteristics of convenience stores with constant air conditioning and having the largest offline store network in the country.
CU is also running a discount event on alcoholic beverages that see increased sales during the hot weather.
Until the 31st of this month, a promotion allows customers to buy five or more popular large-size beers, including CAS Corporation, Stella, and Budweiser, for 1,900 won each. The six-pack bundle of CAS Corporation and Terra canned beer is being sold at up to a 50% discount.
