McDonald's announced on the 21st that its 'Iksan sweet potato mozzarella burger & muffin,' a new menu item from the 'Taste of Korea' project, surpassed 1 million in cumulative sales just nine days after its launch. This marks the fastest sales record for any menu item in the history of the Taste of Korea project.
According to McDonald's, the Iksan sweet potato mozzarella burger & muffin was launched on the 10th. The burger features a mashed croquette made with Iksan sweet potato, enriched with savory mozzarella cheese, creating a sweet yet rich flavor. It is also complemented by the spicy and umami 'jalapeño mayo sauce,' enhancing its unique taste.
This year marks the 5th anniversary of the 'Taste of Korea' project, which McDonald's has been running since 2021. Designed to actively utilize high-quality domestic ingredients, the new menu aims to provide customers with fresh and delicious options while revitalizing local farms.
Through the 'Taste of Korea' project, McDonald's has been actively promoting the excellence of domestic ingredients and supporting local economic revitalization through large-scale purchasing. For the Iksan sweet potato mozzarella burger & muffin, McDonald's procured approximately 200 tons of Iksan sweet potatoes from Jeollabuk-do.
A representative from McDonald's noted, "This achievement is thanks to the customers who have supported the Taste of Korea project over the past five years," adding, "We will continue to discover high-quality ingredients hidden throughout the country to provide customers with unique enjoyment while offering practical help to farmers, fostering mutual growth."
