Theborn Korea, operated by Paik Jong-won, closed the Baekseok factory last month after being reported for violating agricultural land laws.
Theborn Korea said on the 10th, "To ensure safe product production and quality management, the production functions of the Baekseok factory have been transferred to a budget factory operated by us and a collaborating manufacturer, and operations at the Baekseok factory concluded at the end of June."
This is because the supply rates of soybeans and flour, the main ingredients of soybean paste, are low, making it difficult to secure domestic products. The Baekseok factory is located in an agricultural promotion zone, where according to agricultural land law, facilities must produce food using agricultural and fishery products produced domestically.
In relation to this, the issue of the Baekseok factory violating agricultural land laws was raised in March. This was due to the presence of imported materials and supplies in the soybean paste products produced there. At the time, Theborn Korea said, "We sincerely apologize for using imported materials and supplies while not properly recognizing the regulations."
