Hanwha Galleria announced on the 9th that its subsidiary, Verus Scoop Creamery's premium ice cream brand "Benson," will open locations at Seoul Station and Cheongnyangni Station consecutively. Benson is a premium ice cream brand introduced in Korea by Kim Dong-seon (36), Executive Vice President of Hanwha Galleria, following the premium handmade burger brand "Five Guys." Executive Vice President Kim is the third son of Kim Seung-yeon, Chairman of Hanwha Group.
The new Benson stores will be located on the third floor of the Connect Place at Seoul Station and Cheongnyangni Station, respectively. Connect Place is a cultural complex operated by Hanwha Connect within the station. The Cheongnyangni Station location has been in operation since its renovation in 2022, while the Seoul Station location was remodeled in 2023.
The Seoul Station store, which is set to open on the 11th, will occupy an area of 57.5 square meters (approximately 17.4 pyeong). There will be approximately 190 public seating available near the store. The Cheongnyangni Station store will open a week later, on the 18th, and will have a size of 28.1 square meters (approximately 8.5 pyeong). About 50 public seating will be provided there.
In particular, the menu will reflect the high demand for snacks that can be conveniently eaten while on the move, which is characteristic of train stations. New items utilizing ice cream will include ▲ raspberry luge sorbet float ▲ rum lime & pineapple float ▲ matcha & red bean shake, among a total of 10 types. In addition, croissants, salt bread, and scones will also be available for sale.
A representative from Verus Scoop Creamery noted, "Given that Connect Place is a commercial area with high foot traffic, we expect to showcase the premium ice cream of Benson to more customers," and added, "We plan to continue expanding our stores so that more customers can experience Benson in various spaces."
