On the 24th, Homeplus announced that it will expand the number of its large supermarket quick commerce stores available for order through Baedal Minjok to 11.
Since April, Homeplus has introduced six stores, including the Gangdong, Sindorim, Sangbong, and Dongnae stores, to Baedal Minjok's grocery shopping service. Starting on the 24th, it will additionally operate five more stores, including Geumcheon, Yeongdeungpo, Nam Daegu, Cheongju, and Jeonju Hyoja. By July, the plan is to convert 34 stores, with a total of over 40 stores by August.
Large supermarket quick commerce is a service that allows customers living within a 4 km radius of stores to receive various products, including fresh food, deli, and bakery items from large supermarkets within about one hour after ordering through Baedal Minjok.
Homeplus expanded its large supermarket quick commerce in response to increased customer demand for fast delivery, aiming to strengthen its competitiveness in the online shopping market. The strategy is to support quick shopping for essential products primarily for one- to two-person households, broaden customer touchpoints, and absorb various shopping needs to increase market share.
Cho Hye-young, head of online marketing at Homeplus, said, "As competition in the online grocery shopping market intensifies, we are gradually expanding our large supermarket quick commerce stores in collaboration with Baedal Minjok to meet the diverse food consumption needs of customers." She added, "We will continue to work on diversifying product and delivery options so that customers can conveniently receive fresh products from Homeplus stores anytime, anywhere."
