CU announced on the 2nd that it will open a ramen specialty store called "Ramen Library" at the floating public transport harbor "Han River Bus," set to officially start operations this September.
The Han River Bus is a water-based public transportation system that travels between seven docks in Seoul: Jamsil, Ttukseom, Okso, Apgujeong, Yeouido, Mangwon, and Magok.
CU will open stores at the seven docks where the Han River Bus stops. Following the opening of the Yeouido and Jamsil Han River Bus dock locations on the 31st, five additional stores are set to open sequentially in June.
The store that CU is showcasing at the Han River Bus dock is the ramen specialty convenience store, Ramen Library. On the 31st of last month, it opened a "compact type" Ramen Library in front of the waiting area on the first floor of the Yeouido and Jamsil docks. A display case for popular ramen and instant ramen cookers have been installed. Additionally, a ramen zone showcasing signature products from major ramen manufacturers such as Nongshim, OTOKI, and Samyang Foods has been set up inside the BBQ store on the second floor of the dock.
At the Yeouido and Jamsil docks, there will be cup ramen-shaped tasting booths reflecting the concept of Nongshim, while OTOKI booths will be at the Ttukseom and Apgujeong docks, and Samyang will have theirs at Mangwon dock. This idea was inspired by foreign tourists taking certification photos in front of cup ramen-shaped tasting booths at stores like Hongdae Sang Sang Shop and Myeongdong Station.
The ramen zone can be found in five locations built as three-story buildings among the Han River Bus docks: Yeouido, Jamsil, Apgujeong, Mangwon, and Ttukseom.
A representative from BGF Retail, CU's operating company, noted, "In the future, CU will continue to develop content suitable for the space to enhance its role as a platform that offers new experiences and fun."
