Hyundai Department Store announced on the 23rd that it will introduce a generative artificial intelligence (AI) mentor system that learns from the knowledge of skilled in-house experts, becoming the first in the industry.
This system allows for one-on-one customized work consultations for new employees, those with low seniority, and job changers, passing on Hyundai Department Store's job know-how and increasing organizational efficiency.
Hyundai Department Store officially installed a conversational AI mentor system developed in collaboration with the Talent Development Center, Culture Lab, and Hyundai Futurenet in its in-house messenger. The system features a transition beyond the simple question-and-answer format of existing chatbots by datafying qualitative knowledge from experts to provide work manuals and practical tips in a natural conversation.
Hyundai Department Store selected 139 in-house experts from 13 job fields, including merchandise planning (MD), space, trends, global, accounting, and ESG, based on outstanding performance, possession of certification, and career entry. They conducted approximately 3,300 hours of 'in-depth interviews' over three months.
When opening new stores, the system has datafied experiences and know-how in areas such as space planning and global brand acquisition, and it also includes job-related questions collected through a company-wide survey.
This data has been structured using generative AI technology, completing Hyundai Department Store's unique AI mentor system. Employees can engage in conversations with the AI through the in-house messenger anytime and anywhere to receive customized work advice.
The introduction of this system is part of Hyundai Department Store's AX (AI Transformation) strategy, aimed at creating an environment where employees can focus on creative work. In 2023, Hyundai Department Store was the first in the industry to introduce an AI specialized in creating marketing copy named 'Luis.'
