CU announced on the 20th that it will exclusively launch a collaboration product featuring 'Ganadi,' the popular character from KakaoTalk emoticons loved by the MZ generation.
'Ganadi,' which is a cute pronunciation of a puppy, gained explosive popularity on SNS X and became the number one character after being released as a KakaoTalk emoticon. Its unique wistful expression and the image of "I want a hug" created a significant viral internet meme.
Since the main age group of Ganadi's followers on SNS consists of the 18 to 24-year-old MZ generation, which is also the main consumer demographic for convenience stores, CU conducted collaborative planning for differentiated products.
The first collaborative products are Ganadi chocolate milk and strawberry milk. Packaged with the cute Ganadi design, these products contain fresh domestic raw milk and can be enjoyed in generous portions with sweet chocolate and refreshing strawberry flavors.
Thanks to Ganadi's popularity, these products have risen to the top of the real-time search terms on CU's commerce app, Pocket CU, receiving great attention from the MZ generation. To celebrate the launch, CU will offer a 500-won discount on the two types of Ganadi processed milk until the end of next month and plans to sequentially introduce various Ganadi collaboration products in categories such as tea drinks and pouch drinks.
Additionally, CU has released products collaborating with various popular characters such as Catch! Teenyping, Crayon Shin-chan, Mangled Bear, and Conan. This is because characters that are well-known and friendly to consumers have also proven effective in boosting product sales.
The 'Catch! Teenyping Ramen,' which features cute Hachuping-shaped fish cakes, sold over 250,000 units after its launch, while 'Shin-chan is Full Ramen' sparked great attention with amusing Shin-chan-shaped fish cakes, achieving sales of over 100,000 units in less than a month.
CU plans to attract character fans to its stores by expanding its lineup of character fish cake ramen that offers both eating fun and visual enjoyment.
