Drunken Factory announced on the 7th that its traditional liquor, Happy Boy, won the grand award in the Korean rice wine category at the 2025 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards.
The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is the nation's leading liquor competition, celebrating its 12th year this year. Hosted annually by ChosunBiz since 2014, its goal is to "discover good domestic liquor and widely promote it, while supporting the formation of a healthy drinking culture."
This year's event featured 236 companies showcasing a total of 1,008 brands, making it the largest competition for liquor in the country. Among these, 431 brands received the Daesang.
Drunken Factory is synonymous with new Korean liquor crafted from tradition and innovation. It is also nicknamed the honest makgeolli created by a sommelier. CEO Kim Jun-geun is a wine expert who obtained the National Certified Sommelier (BP sommelier) qualification in Burgundy, France.
Happy Boy is completed using only rice and fermentation, characterized by enhancing the natural flavors of rice without adding water, utilizing the rice variety 'Miho' from Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do.
