Guruma Brewery's 'Yuja09' won the grand award in the Korean rice wine category at the 2025 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards.
Guruma Brewery is a traditional liquor brewery located in the heart of Seoul's Mapo district.
Released in August 2021, 'Yuja09' is made with Cheorwon's Odaemi rice and Yuzu from the southern coast. It has a rich flavor and a good balance of acidity, making it popular as an appetizer. Limited to 200 bottles sold each month.
Guruma Brewery plans to continuously research and develop products that present a new paradigm of Korean traditional liquor in Mapo, where many young people reside and visit, taking this award as an opportunity.
Meanwhile, the Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is the premier liquor competition in South Korea, now in its 12th year. Organized annually by ChosunBiz since 2014, it aims to discover and promote excellent domestic liquors while supporting a healthy drinking culture.
This year's event featured 236 companies showcasing a total of 1,008 brands. It is the largest domestic competition covering comprehensive liquors. Of these, 431 brands received the grand award.
