HiteJinro announced on the 3rd that it will open a newly built integrated research and development center to strengthen its research and development capabilities.
The new integrated research and development center was established by consolidating the existing Hongcheon brewery research center and the Cheongju soju research center in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. Construction was started at the end of December 2023, and it was completed in February of this year, featuring four above-ground floors and two basement levels with a land area of 10,595 square meters and a total floor area of 13,231 square meters.
HiteJinro noted that the research institute is equipped with research facilities, operational support facilities, common facilities, and security systems.
The exterior of the research institute was designed to reflect HiteJinro's 100-year history, featuring a stacked structure that emphasizes a sense of openness with an atrium design that maximizes natural light in the central area.
HiteJinro plans to expand its research scope at the newly built integrated research and development center beyond alcoholic beverage research to include studies on additives, new material development, packaging, and container research, in order to enter new business areas such as non-alcoholic beverages.
The opening ceremony held on the 31st of last month was attended by more than 50 employees, including Kim In-kyu, CEO of HiteJinro, and Jeon Jang-woo, Executive Director of the integrated research and development center.
