Nakchun’s Yakcheongol Jijangsoo makgeolli won the grand award in the Korean rice wine category at the 2025 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards.

Nakchun is producing its own yeast. It discovered yeast in loess for the first time in the world and applied for a patent.

The Yakcheongol Jijangsoo makgeolli produced by this company uses natural Jijangsoo from 150 meters underground in the Donghae Yakcheongol loess bedrock. Jijangsoo is water from loess that contains various minerals and has excellent medicinal properties, historically used in prescriptions at pharmacies.

Jijangsoo makgeolli is smooth, clean, and has a fresh apple aroma. It is good for blood circulation and has almost no hangover. It can be purchased at CU convenience stores and Seven-Eleven nationwide.

The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is the representative liquor evaluation event of Korea, now in its 12th year. ChosunBiz has been hosting the event annually since 2014 with the goal of discovering and popularizing good domestic liquor and supporting the establishment of a healthy drinking culture.

This year’s event featured 236 companies that submitted a total of 1,008 brands. It is the largest scale among domestic evaluations dealing with comprehensive liquor. Among them, 431 brands received the grand award.
