KT&G announced on the 27th that it will urgently provide 500 million won in donations to residents of Gyeongsangbuk-do Uiseong, Gyeongsangnam-do Sancheong and Hadong, and Ulsan Ulju, which have been declared special disaster areas due to recent wildfires, as well as to other areas where additional damages are anticipated.
KT&G's donation is expected to be used for emergency housing for disaster victims, repair costs for damaged buildings, living expenses, and support for relief supplies, and will be delivered through the National Disaster Relief Association.
This donation was raised from the 'Imagination Fund,' a voluntary contribution fund created by KT&G employees. The 'Imagination Fund' is a social contribution fund established by KT&G in 2011, and is formed in a matching grant format where employees voluntarily donate a certain amount of their monthly salary, and the company matches the same amount.
KGC Insam Corporation, a subsidiary of KT&G, also decided to actively participate in national disaster support by providing 홍삼 (Korean red ginseng) products worth 100 million won to residents affected by the wildfires.
