The uniform-price household goods store Ahsung Daiso's card payment amount for January and February is estimated to have increased by 8% compared to last year. Payment amounts have steadily increased across all age groups, regardless of gender.
According to the 'Daiso Payment Trend Report' announced by the data platform corporation IG Works on the 20th, the estimated annual card payment amounts for Daiso customers were 1.3514 trillion won in 2021, 1.5561 trillion won in 2022, 1.8745 trillion won in 2023, and 2.1354 trillion won last year.
The estimated card payment amount for January and February this year is 339.5 billion won, an increase of about 8% from 314.4 billion won during the same period last year.
The increase rates of card payment amounts by age group compared to last year were 30% for those under 20, 57% for those in their 30s, 55% for those in their 40s, 64% for those in their 50s, and 93% for those aged 60 and over, indicating growth across all age groups.
As of February this year, the monthly card payment ratio by gender is estimated to be 43% for Namsung and 57% for women.
The proportion by age group is 11% for those under 20, 23% for those in their 30s, 28% for those in their 40s, 23% for those in their 50s, and 15% for those aged 60 and over.
The annual average number of card payments made by Daiso customers increased from 11.61 million in 2021 to 17.88 million last year.
The average purchase amount per card customer (guest unit price) also showed an upward trend, increasing from 15,192 won in 2021 to 17,354 won last year. The payment amount per card transaction (transaction unit price) increased from 9,706 won in 2021 to 9,949 won last year.
By day of the week, payment amounts on weekdays (Monday to Friday) were around 20 billion won each, while weekend (Saturday and Sunday) payment amounts were each 30.2 billion won. In terms of time, the highest payment amount occurred between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Daiso's sales and operating profit for 2023 are 3.4604 trillion won and 261.7 billion won, respectively. Sales last year are reported to have surpassed 4 trillion won.
