Food company Buchang Confectionery, known for its 'Lee Jang-woo walnut cake,' announced on the 12th that it will enter Busan. Following locations in Seoul, Daegu, and Gyeonggi Province, it will open its fourth store in the Shinsegae Centum City department store in Busan.
Buchang Confectionery is a walnut cake brand created in collaboration with actor Lee Jang-woo and food content company FG. On the 15th, Lee Jang-woo plans to visit the Busan store personally to commemorate its opening.
Buchang Confectionery opened its first store last October, and within just five months, recorded cumulative sales of 100 million units, gaining immense popularity. The brand's success has been greatly attributed to its unique menu items, such as 'Uyuni salt walnut cake,' as well as its special brand story.
Hundreds of people gathered in front of the temporarily opened Buchang Confectionery store at the Shinsegae Centum City department store in Busan. The store is decorated with photographs and posters from the old Buchang Confectionery.
Buchang Confectionery plans to continue its momentum and expand not only domestically but also internationally. In the second half of this year, it plans to open stores in major department stores in Japan and is also working on collaborations with a well-known Japanese lifestyle corporation. In the medium to long term, it is planning overseas expansions, including in the United States and Vietnam, and aims to open about 10 additional stores in Korea during the first half of next year.
Lee Kyung-won, CEO of FG, said, "To repay our customers' love, we are considering establishing the Buchang Confectionery scholarship fund and building the Buchang Confectionery School based in the Gyeongju area," and noted, "We will widely promote 'K-dessert' in Japan, the United States, Vietnam, and beyond."
