Diageo Korea’s tequila “Don Julio 1942″ won the “Best of 2025″ award at the 2025 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards.
Don Julio 1942 is a luxury tequila brand that was introduced to the world in 2002 by founder Don Julio González to celebrate the 60th anniversary of tequila production. It takes a minimum of 8 years to produce a bottle, using 100% blue agave that has been aged for at least 2 years in American oak barrels.
Don Julio 1942 is also a representative celebratory drink commonly featured at various international film festivals and global fashion weeks. For the past 7 years, it has served as the alcohol partner of the after-party “The Governors Ball” at the Academy Awards in the United States. It has been evaluated as a product that elevates tequila to an artistic level.
The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards has reached its 12th year this year. It is a leading liquor evaluation event in Korea, organized annually since 2014 by ChosunBiz with the goal of discovering and widely promoting good domestic alcohol and supporting the formation of a healthy liquor culture.
This year’s event saw 236 companies showcasing a total of 1008 brands, making it the largest scale evaluation in the country covering general liquor. Among these, 431 brands received awards. Of the award winners, the 25 brands that received the highest scores in each category were selected for the top honor “Best of Best 2025.”
