Food companies that had temporarily halted supplies to Homeplus, the second-largest hypermarket, have resumed deliveries. However, some corporations are still in negotiations.
According to the food industry on the 9th, three companies, OTOKI, LOTTE Wellfood, and Samyang Foods, have either resumed or are expected to resume deliveries to Homeplus. OTOKI and LOTTE Wellfood have already started deliveries, and Samyang Foods will resume deliveries on the 10th.
However, LOTTE Chilsung Beverage, Dongsuh, and Paldo are still in a state of halted deliveries. As a result, some shelves in Homeplus stores are partially empty, particularly for items such as ramen, snacks, and frozen dumplings.
A representative from a food company noted, "Some are in negotiations, while others have completed negotiations and decided to resume, but the ordering process itself takes time, which has led to this phenomenon." They added, "We are watching to see if this phenomenon will affect consumer purchasing behavior."
Meanwhile, the meeting scheduled for the 7th among suppliers to Homeplus, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, was reportedly canceled on the day. It is said that Homeplus's strong determination to resolve the issue independently was the background for the cancellation of the meeting.
