The Korea Duty Free Association announced on the 7th that Dongha Kim, CEO of LOTTE Duty Free Shop, has been appointed as the 10th chairman.
Chairman Kim noted in his inaugural speech that "the duty-free industry is facing a complex crisis due to the expansion of global economic uncertainty, a decline in consumer sentiment, and high exchange rates" and stated, "I will prioritize responses for survival and improving the industrial structure and prepare countermeasures."
Chairman Kim presented key initiatives, including: close cooperation with the National Assembly and policy authorities to revise regulations; establishing long-term development strategies based on cooperation with related industries such as tourism, distribution, and tariff; and expanding support for member companies through strengthening the association's expertise.
Chairman Kim joined LOTTE Confectionery in 1997, after which he worked in the planning support department of LOTTE Super and the corporate culture team of LOTTE Corporation. He has been CEO of LOTTE Duty Free Shop since December last year. Chairman Kim's term will last until December 31.
