The government will not spare any necessary policy support to ensure that the South Korean liquor industry can become more competitive in the global market.
Chairperson Song Eon-seok (lawmaker for Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province) noted on the 7th at the "2025 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards EXPO" held at SETEC near Hakgyeol Station in Seoul. The 2025 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards marks the 12th iteration of the representative liquor tasting event in South Korea. Organized by ChosunBiz since 2014 with the goal of discovering and widely promoting good domestic liquor and supporting the formation of a healthy liquor culture, this year's event will be expanded into a fair lasting two nights and three days.
Chairperson Song said, "As the popularity of our culture rises, interest in the South Korean liquor industry is also growing. The South Korean liquor industry, which has developed in harmony between tradition and innovation, is now recognized for its competitiveness in the global market."
He continued, "The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards has been a significant contributor to enhancing the quality of South Korean liquor culture by selecting and introducing the best liquors to consumers every year. I hope this event will continue to develop as a meaningful venue for communication between industry stakeholders and consumers, and contribute to the global expansion of South Korean liquor culture."
Chairperson Song also emphasized the advantages of liquor made from Gimcheon fruits, taking part in a tasting. The "Sudosan Winery" from Jeungsan-myeon in Gimcheon attended the Korea Wine & Spirits Awards. Sudosan Winery produces "krate", a wine made from mountain grapes. Chairperson Song is a lawmaker for Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province.
This event runs for three days from the 7th to the 9th at the entire SETEC facility near Hakgyeol Station in Seoul. More than 200 booths are participating across three exhibition halls, and over 10,000 people, including general visitors and liquor industry participants, have signed up to attend.
