Daemyung Sono Group announced on the 4th that it has acquired the golf courses 'Onward Mangilao Golf Club' and 'Onward Talofofo Golf Club' in Guam.
Daemyung Sono has signed an acquisition agreement with Onward Resort and Golf, which owns the two golf courses, and began operations on the 1st. The brands of the two golf courses have been changed to 'SonoFelicità Country Club Guam Mangilao' and 'SonoFelicità Country Club Guam Talofofo.'
Mangilao is located on the eastern coastline of Guam and has an area of 1,090,000㎡ (330,000 pyeong) with an 18-hole course. It is renowned for being designed by the world-famous golf course designer Robin Nelson.
Talofofo is situated inland in southern Guam and features an 18-hole course spanning 1,160,000㎡ (350,000 pyeong). The company noted that it is popular among golfers who prefer a challenging strategic play course designed by legendary PGA Tour players Sam Snead and Ben Hogan.
This marks the first time Daemyung Sono has directly operated a golf course overseas.
In South Korea, Daemyung Sono operates three golf courses and is managing SonoFelicità Haiphong CC in Vietnam.
Daemyung Sono is currently operating 20 hotels and resorts domestically, including the 'Sole Beach Namhae' scheduled to open this year. Overseas, it began managing 'SonoBell Haiphong' in Vietnam in 2019, followed by the 'Normandy Hotel' in Washington D.C. in 2022, the '33 Seaport Hotel New York' in 2023, and in 2024 will acquire the 'Dame des Arts Hotel' in Paris, France, and the 'Waikiki Resort Hotel' in Hawaii.
The company plans to strengthen its overseas business portfolio through the recent acquisition of T’way Air and this golf course in Guam. It expects to develop products that link T’way Air's weekly flights to Guam and the golf course, hoping to create synergy by combining golf, aviation, and accommodation.
