The Korea Food Industry Association noted on the 28th that it attempted to elect a new president during its regular general meeting, but the appointment was unsuccessful.
On that morning, the Korea Food Industry Association held a general meeting at the Lotte Hotel Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul, to elect the next president.
However, the election was postponed due to the need for discussions on the method of selecting the next president.
Current President Lee Hyoyul (chairman of Pulmuone's board) said at the meeting, "We need to clarify the processes such as board approval procedures and general meeting approval procedures."
Until the next president is elected, the presidency will be temporarily held by President Lee Hyoyul. Lee has led the association for the past six years. The official term ended with this general meeting.
Founded in 1969, the Food Industry Association currently has 192 member companies. This is the first time that the election of the association president has been unsuccessful.
According to the food industry, this election is known to feature a competition between Park Jinsun, the representative of Sempio Foods, and Hwang Jonghyun, the representative of SPC Samlip.
Representative Park is the eldest son of former Sempio Foods representative Park Seungbok. Representative Hwang worked at Dongwon Group for over 30 years before becoming the representative of SPC Samlip in 2020.
