Genesis BBQ Group announced on the 26th that it has opened a 'BBQ South Salt Lake City' location in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States.
After opening locations last year in Tennessee, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Indiana, BBQ has expanded to 31 states in the U.S. this year, including Utah.
BBQ started its U.S. expansion in 2007 and has been expanding its locations primarily in major areas such as New York, New Jersey, Texas, and California. Salt Lake City, where the Utah location is situated, is the largest city in Utah with a population of about 200,000, and the surrounding metropolitan area has about 1.25 million residents. Notably, the commercial area of this location is in Chinatown, where the percentage of Asian residents among the transient population is high.
The South Salt Lake City location has a total of 50 seats and covers approximately 175 square meters. This location offers representative chicken menu items such as Golden Pride and Honey Garlic, along with Korean dishes like tteokbokki and bulgogi rice bowls.
A BBQ representative noted, "We are pleased to expand into Utah as the 31st state in the U.S. We will refine our strategy, which has been successful in the global market through our years of know-how, and more actively showcase BBQ's unique 'K-food' on the world stage this year."
