The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 26th that it held a meeting with the cosmetics industry to enhance the competitiveness of the cosmetics industry and discuss future development directions.
The meeting was held at the Korea Cosmetic Association in Yeongdeungpo-gu. Ten companies, including the Korea Cosmetic Association, Amorepacific Corporation, LG H&H, and Aekyung Industrial, attended.
During the meeting, participants shared achievements in regulatory improvements in the cosmetics sector and introduced key projects for this year, including the introduction of safety evaluation systems.
In particular, they discussed ways to flexibly apply classification systems according to industry support systems following the introduction of safety evaluation systems and various cosmetic development.
Additionally, support measures for accelerating the development of new products, including microbiomes, were proposed.
Shin Jun-soo, director of the Biotechnology and Bioactivity Division, noted, "We proposed new policy standards such as a pilot project for cosmetic e-labels and achieved regulatory improvements that support market autonomy and diverse product development by allowing certification to be left to private autonomy. We will continue to push forward with on-site support measures to ensure that K-beauty can actively enter the global market."
