Coupang Inc. has been recognized as a leading information technology (IT) corporation driving global innovation.
According to the distribution industry on the 21st, Coupang Inc. was included in the '2025 Global 100 Innovative Corporations' selected by the U.S.-based global patent analysis corporation LexisNexis on the previous day (local time).
LexisNexis selects 100 global innovative corporations each year based on a database of 16 million global patents encompassing various industries, including bio, information technology (IT), automotive, and semiconductors.
Coupang was chosen as one of 12 global corporations in the IT sector, including IBM, Meta, and Alphabet. This is the first time Coupang has made the list of global innovative corporations.
Coupang noted, 'The increase in the number of patent citations has raised our ranking.'
LexisNexis particularly noted that the number of patents held by Coupang is rapidly increasing.
The number of global patents held by Coupang has surged 13-fold from 160 in 2019 to 2,100 currently. Based on this, it is providing various customer services in over 190 countries and regions, including distribution, food delivery, online video (OTT), and fintech.
LexisNexis also evaluated that the quality of the patent portfolio held by Coupang is nearly four times stronger than the industry average.
Marco Richter, senior director of intellectual property (IP) at LexisNexis, stated, 'Coupang Inc.'s first selection as one of the Global 100 Innovative Corporations was based on the fact that it nearly doubled the size of its patent portfolio and significantly improved patent quality over the past two years.'
He said, 'Coupang has demonstrated leadership in various business fields, from advanced robotics technology to a unique logistics system driving fulfillment.'
