Pernod Ricard Korea announced on the 14th that it will launch The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, the first edition being The Glenlivet 55YO.
The Eternal Collection is a series of aged single malt whiskeys that is being introduced for the first time since the brand's founding in 1824. Over the next five years, it will collaborate with artists who showcase innovative and original works to select high-quality aged single malt whiskeys that match those artistic creations.
In practice of the innovation pursued by The Glenlivet, the Eternal Collection plans to add one year to the whiskey aging process annually. This signifies that it will rewrite history by renewing the product with the highest aging years in the brand's history each year.
The Glenlivet 55YO, serving as a signal flare, offers a unique flavor with its special finishing aging, reflecting the brand's proud masterpiece. Kevin Bampaw, The Glenlivet cask expert, blended original spirits aged in casks that went through Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez, as well as rare Palo Cortado sherry cask aging, creating an original and high-quality blend for this edition.
Simultaneously, architect Michael Hansmeier, known for his experimental and innovative work, participated in the project. He created a sculpture that complements the bottle using eco-friendly material Jesmonite (water-based acrylic resin) and rose gold accents. The impressive sculpture features a geometric pattern in rose gold within a white hemisphere, inspired by the River Livet in the Speyside region where The Glenlivet was born.
The first edition of The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, 'The Glenlivet 55YO,' will be released in only 100 bottles worldwide, with just 2 bottles available in South Korea.
Miguel Pascal, executive vice president of marketing at Pernod Ricard Korea, noted, "The Glenlivet has set the standard for single malt whiskey for over 200 years while continuing to innovate," adding, "This collection is a groundbreaking effort that continuously introduces high-aged products by adding aging years each year."
