On the 13th, Shinsegae Live Shopping announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a local company in Thailand and will begin full-scale mango sales.
According to Shinsegae Live Shopping, it will sell Thai mangoes until April. The mangoes will be sold through broadcasts and mobile for about three months until this summer. The mangoes currently on sale are of the Nam Dok Mai variety from Thailand, known for their high sugar content and smooth texture. Afterward, the plan is to switch to the Maha Chanok variety to continue selling Thai mangoes.
This result is attributed to establishing a stable product sales base through a business agreement with local farms and transportation companies in Thailand at the end of last year. They will manage the entire process at the farm and have introduced a logistics system for direct air shipping from the production area, enabling them to continuously provide better quality mangoes.
In particular, the strong sales of Thai mangoes are contributing to economic cooperation between the two countries. Chananya Panraksa, the commercial attaché at the Thai Embassy in South Korea, will appear directly on Shinsegae Live Shopping's mango broadcasts starting this year to introduce the products. Last year, Shinsegae Live Shopping sold mangoes worth approximately 11 billion won to about 300,000 people.
Kang Seong-jun, Shinsegae Live Shopping's executive in charge of product management, noted, "We have prepared top-quality mangoes through continuous cooperation with local companies in Thailand" and added, "We will create a differentiated channel to showcase global premium foods."
