The Jeju National Museum of Contemporary Art announced on the 5th that the cumulative number of visitors enjoying the exhibition 'From Monet to Andy Warhol: 400 Years of Western Art, Read through Masterpieces' at the Jeju Modern Art Museum has surpassed 30,000. As of the 1st, the daily visitor count recorded 1,363, breaking the highest record since its opening in 2007.
This exhibition is jointly hosted by the Jeju National Museum of Contemporary Art and the cultural content company Gaudium Associates. It is organized to showcase 143 works by 89 masters of Western art in one place.
Along with the art scene of South Africa, the works of artists representing the history of Western art are categorized by era. Visitors can enjoy pieces from the Dutch Golden Age to 19th-century Victorian British art, works from the Romanticism to Realism revolutionary period, and Impressionist pieces. Additionally, there are works from early 20th-century avant-garde movements and contemporary art.
Interactive elements have also been arranged. There is a 'coloring experience' space where visitors can color works by major exhibiting artists, and a photo booth inspired by Claude Monet's 'Spring,' installed in an outdoor park for commemorative photography.
Lee Jong-hoo, director of the Jeju National Museum of Contemporary Art, said, 'This exhibition is linked to the 4th Jeju Biennale, and I am pleased to see positive responses from both residents and tourists. I will do my best to provide opportunities for cultural and artistic enjoyment for residents and visitors through various exhibitions in the future.'
