The chicken franchise Genesis BBQ group announced on the 31st that it donated over 1,000 chickens to local social welfare facilities throughout January this year.
BBQ has been conducting this social contribution activity under the name 'Chicken University Good Donation' for the 26th year. The donated chickens are prepared by franchise owners and employees who receive pre-opening training at the chicken university located in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
BBQ noted, 'It is regarded as a model case of ESG management activities that combine a restaurant franchise training system with social contributions.'
Before the Lunar New Year holiday, BBQ delivered 40 chickens to a senior welfare center in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. Additionally, during January, it visited about 10 child and elder welfare facilities through group homes and the Korea Red Cross in regions such as Icheon, Suwon, and Yongin.
According to BBQ, the number of chickens delivered to the local community through the Chicken University Good Donation in January reached over 1,000. When converted to monetary value, this amounts to about 23 million won.
A BBQ official said, 'In the Year of Eulsa, we are also carrying out good donations with families to spread positive influence,' and added, 'This year, we will continue to uphold the value of sharing through various activities for marginalized neighbors.'
