Some department stores and outlets opened for business on the holiday itself during the extended Lunar New Year holiday. Last year during Chuseok, Shinsegae and Lotte were the first to decide to open their outlets on the holiday. This Lunar New Year, Hyundai Outlet also opened for business on the holiday for the first time.
According to industry sources on the 27th, the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store will be closed on the 29th and 30th, which is the day of the Lunar New Year, while the Hanam branch will only be closed on the 29th. Eleven branches of Shinsegae Department Store will close on the 28th and 29th, the day of the Lunar New Year. These branches include Gangnam, Times Square, South City, Centum City, Daegu Shinsegae, Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science, Masan, Gimhae, Gwangju Shinsegae, Uijeongbu, and Cheonan Asan.
Shinsegae Simon Premium Outlet will open on the holiday again this year, following last year's Chuseok. All five stores in Yeoju, Paju, Busan, Siheung, and Jeju will operate normally throughout the holiday. Operating hours are from noon to 9 p.m. Shinsegae Starfield will operate on the 29th, the day of the Lunar New Year, from noon to 10 p.m.
For Hyundai Department Store, ten branches (Trade Center, Jungdong, Pangyo, The Hyundai Seoul, Ulsan, Chungcheong, etc.) will be closed on the 28th and 29th, while five branches (Apgujeong, D-Cube City, Ulsan Dong-gu, etc.) will not operate on the 29th and 30th.
Hyundai Premium Outlet's Gimpo and Songdo branches, Space One, and Daejeon branches will remain open throughout the Lunar New Year holiday. They will operate from noon to 9 p.m. This is the first Lunar New Year that Hyundai Outlet has opened on the holiday. Additionally, four Hyundai City Outlet branches (Dongdaemun, Gasan, Garden 5, and Daegu) and Connect Hyundai Busan will be closed on the 29th.
Lotte Department Store's 29 branches (main branch, Jamsil, Incheon, Dongtan, Gimpo Airport, etc.) will not operate on the 28th and 29th. The Bundang and Centum City branches will be closed on the 29th and 30th.
Lotte Outlet will also open on the holiday, following last year's Chuseok. Six Lotte Premium Outlets (Gimhae, Dongbusan, Paju, Icheon, Giheung, and Uiwang) and suburban outlets (Isiapolis and Buyeo) will operate throughout the holiday, with operating hours from noon to 9 p.m. Other outlets will be closed. Five complex shopping malls (Lotte World Mall and Time Villas Suwon, etc.) will operate from noon to 10 p.m.
