Alibaba.com announced on the 16th that it will participate in '2025 Cosme Week Tokyo,' held at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan, to support the entry of K-beauty into the Japanese market. Alibaba.com is China Alibaba International's global business-to-business (B2B) commerce platform.
Cosme Week Tokyo is the largest cosmetics trade fair in Japan, taking place from the 15th to the 17th. Over three days, 800 corporations from more than 20 countries will showcase products ranging from basic cosmetics to hair care products, ingredients, and beauty devices. The number of attendees is expected to reach 30,000.
Alibaba.com will participate in Cosme Week Tokyo alongside 15 brands, including Kolmar Global (Anok), GP Club (JM Solution, Twatouch), Linti, Selinshot, and Fugenbio (Cell Lab). Alibaba.com is supporting the overseas expansion of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises by launching a B2B site exclusively for domestic corporations, called 'Korea Pavilion.'
According to Alibaba.com as of January this year, skincare products accounted for the highest sales among K-beauty products. Sales of skin toners increased by 233% compared to the previous year, while serums also saw a 126% rise during the same period. In particular, global interest in searching for products with the keyword 'Korean makeup' recorded a growth rate of 356%. The United States and India were noted as key markets, while Germany and Brazil also showed growth rates of 253% and 260%, respectively.
Marco Yang, head of Alibaba.com in Korea, noted, 'We feel the growing interest and demand for K-beauty globally, especially experiencing the enthusiastic reaction of local buyers at last year's K-beauty Expo Vietnam,' adding, 'I hope that participating in the 2025 Cosme Week Tokyo will enable Korean beauty corporations to become more active in the Asian market and create new business opportunities.' He further stated, 'In the future, we will continue to support Korean small and medium-sized enterprises to strengthen their competitiveness and succeed on the global stage based on the excellence of K-beauty recognized in the global market.'
