Lotte Duty Free announced on the 16th that it has introduced a robot bartender at its liquor store within Gimpo International Airport.
Following the unveiling of a robot bartender at Singapore's Changi Airport in 2023, Lotte Duty Free has introduced the industry's first robot bartender at its domestic location at Gimpo International Airport this year. The robot bartender, developed in collaboration with Doosan Robotics, a leading domestic collaborative robot company, captures customer faces on-site and analyzes their emotions using artificial intelligence (AI) to recommend beverages. Language options include Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese.
The Lotte Duty Free store at Gimpo International Airport plans to provide robot bartender tasting vouchers to customers who purchase beverages that participated in tasting events, such as Hennessy and Glenfiddich. At this time, customers can either select the beverages they wish to taste or receive recommendations from the robot bartender.
Lotte Duty Free was selected as the final operator in the competitive bidding for liquor, tobacco, and other (DF2) business rights at Gimpo International Airport in March of last year. It is considered the only duty-free operator managing all categories at Gimpo International Airport, along with the cosmetics, perfumes, and other (DF1) business rights that have been operational since 2022.
The liquor store at Gimpo International Airport officially opened in December of last year. It offers premium Japanese whiskey "House of Suntory." More than 100 liquor and tobacco brands are available, and a champagne specialty store is featured at the entrance of the store.
A Lotte Duty Free official noted, "We have prepared a wide range of products and enjoyable experiences to meet customers' diverse needs, and we will continue to do our best to ensure customer satisfaction."
