The Korea Ice Skating Federation announced that Yoon Hong-geun, chairman of the federation, expressed his intention not to run for re-election and conveyed his gratitude to the ice skating community who have been with him for the past four years.

Yoon Hong-geun took office as the 33rd president of the Korea Ice Skating Federation in 2020 and has led the organization for four years. He has worked to normalize the federation in various areas, including strengthening administrative power, stabilizing finances, improving the international competitiveness of the national team, and revitalizing recreational sports.

During his term, Yoon Hong-geun has consistently engaged in sports activities, serving as the Director General of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics athletes' delegation, the chair of the organizing committee for the 2023 ISU World Short Track Championships, and the chair of the organizing committee for the 2023/24 ISU Short Track World Cup's fourth event. He has also worked to boost athletes' morale through increasing Olympic delegation bonuses, providing 'chicken pensions,' and supporting local dining when sending the national team to international competitions.

Yoon noted, "It seems that the troubled ice skating community has stabilized to some extent thanks to the efforts of the executive board and the secretariat over the past four years," adding, "I expect the new executive board to further develop our ice skating community."
