According to the retail industry on the 7th, Emart apologized for the inconvenience caused to customers due to the counterfeit controversy over products sold by its collaborating companies in the unused space at Emart and Traders stores, stating, "We stopped the sale of the product proactively from the moment the controversy arose, and we are currently proceeding with a full refund process for customers who wish to return the product."

This counterfeit controversy began with a video by a YouTuber presenting results from a counterfeit assessment of the product. The YouTuber, noting that the price of the Stüssy sweatshirt purchased at Traders was significantly lower than that of the genuine article, commissioned a luxury authentication center and a second-hand trading platform for an assessment of the sweatshirt. The appraisal agency concluded that aspects such as logo finish, label, and components were different from the genuine product.

While Emart cannot confirm the authenticity of the product, it has decided to proceed with refunds proactively for customer convenience. Since the controversy intensified on the 3rd, Emart has suspended the sale of the product. An Emart representative noted, "The Stüssy product in question was not directly purchased by Emart but was acquired and sold by a collaborating company in the unused space within the store," adding, "We are currently working with the collaborating company to request authenticity verification from several reputable certification agencies."

Furthermore, they stated, "We plan to take follow-up measures based on the verification results," and added, "We will strengthen the quality control and inspection system for products from collaborating companies at events as a lesson from this incident."
