SPC Group, which operates Paris Baguette, announced on the 2nd that it is pushing to establish a bakery factory in Burleson, Texas.
On this day, SPC Group reported that it has selected the City of Burleson in Johnson County, Texas, as the candidate site for the factory and is finalizing discussions with the local government regarding investment plans and subsidies. According to SPC Group, it plans to conclude discussions as early as this month.
SPC Group evaluated that Texas is centrally located in the U.S., providing good logistics access across the country as well as to Canada and Central America. It also noted that there are many advantages in terms of local government incentives for attracting corporations and the employment environment. The local governments of Johnson County and the City of Burleson are known to be providing subsidies worth about $10 million to attract this factory investment.
The SPC Group's bakery factory in the U.S. is expected to be a production facility supplying bakery products across the U.S., Canada, and the Central and South American regions it plans to enter in the future. If the factory is completed as scheduled, it will become SPC Group's largest overseas production facility with an investment amount of about $160 million and land area of about 150,000 square meters (approximately 45,000 pyeong).
This factory can also serve as an overseas production base for SPC Samlip. An SPC Samlip official said, "We are reviewing ways to collaborate at the group level to utilize the local facility in the U.S. as a base for market response and localization strategies."
SPC Group operates a bakery factory in Tianjin, China (20,800 square meters). Additionally, it is on the verge of completing a halal-certified bakery factory (16,500 square meters) in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Paris Baguette operates over 600 stores in 14 countries overseas, with more than 200 of them located in the U.S. and Canada. SPC Group noted that as the North American franchise business has successfully established itself, the trend of store increases is accelerating. Paris Baguette has set a goal to open 1,000 stores in North America by 2030.
An SPC Group official said, "We decided to promote the establishment of a U.S. factory to ensure smooth product supply and improve quality in line with the growth of our business in North America," adding, "We will successfully complete the construction and widely promote the excellence of K-bakery."
