In 2001, BOA Technology, which developed its own dial platform, introduced laceless shoes, bringing innovation to the sports shoe market and expanding its influence to the alpine ski boot market.
BOA began from the founder Gary Hammerslag's concern. Wanting a quick and easy way to lace snowboard boots, Gary developed the dial platform "BOA ® Fit System" to realize that goal.
The BOA Fit System consists of a fine-tune dial, durable and ultra-light weight RAY, and friction-minimizing lace guides. It also offers an easy-to-use dial operation that provides a customized fit for personal foot shapes.
According to BOA, this technology has been applied to various sports equipment and medical supplies beyond snowboard boots, including cycling, running, golf, and hiking. BOA reported that it currently collaborates with over 300 global brands.
Recently, BOA has entered the alpine ski boot market.
Last year, BOA first unveiled its alpine ski boot solution in collaboration with major global ski brands (K2, Salomon, Atomic, Fischer) and renowned Austrian alpine skier Benjamin Raich. BOA reported that these products achieved a warranty claim rate of less than 0.2%.
This year, it formed partnerships with Nordica and Tecnica. According to BOA, the second alpine ski boot solution aimed at this season features a new dial platform developed after over 50,000 hours of testing over five years. BOA stated that this dial platform offers precise fitting according to individual foot shapes with bi-directional micro-adjustment of 0.25mm.
BOA is conducting research at the BOA Performance Fit Laboratory in Denver, USA, to scientifically validate this fit system.
Last year, BOA published a study on the performance efficiency of the BOA Fit System when applied to alpine ski boots in Frontiers, demonstrating the product's reliability.
