The movie 'Harbin' surpassed 1 million viewers just two days after its release.

According to the distributor CJ ENM and the integrated ticketing system on the 25th, 'Harbin' exceeded a cumulative audience of 1 million in the afternoon of that day. On the first day of release, 'Harbin' attracted 381,546 viewers, taking the top spot at the box office.

This is a faster pace than 'Avatar: The Way of Water', which surpassed 1 million viewers three days after its release in December 2022. It also marks the highest opening score for a Korean film since the pandemic in December. In particular, it surpassed the opening scores of other recently released successful Korean films, such as 'Seoul's Spring' (219,445 viewers on the first day) and 'The Drug King' (336,129 viewers on the first day).

'Harbin' depicts the journey of Ahn Jung-geun, who assassinated Ito Hirobumi on October 26, 1909, capturing the intense pursuit and suspicion between those heading to Harbin before the Harbin incident and those chasing them. Produced by Hive Media Corp, which made the film 'Seoul's Spring', the film is directed by Woo Min-ho, who helmed 'Director General of Namsan', 'The Drug King', 'Inside Men', and 'Spy'. Actors Hyun Bin, Park Jung-min, Jo Woo-jin, Jeon Yeo-bin, and Lee Dong-wook grant performances in the film.

Meanwhile, 'Firefighter', directed by Kwak Kyung-taek, which had maintained the daily box office lead until now, was watched by 81,135 viewers, falling to second place. In third place was 'Mufasa: The Lion King', in fourth was 'Moana 2', and in fifth was 'Crayon Shin-chan: Our Dinosaur Diary'.
