Major department stores will begin reservation sales for Lunar New Year gifts starting this weekend.
According to the retail industry on the 17th, Lotte Department Store will reserve approximately 230 types of Lunar New Year gift sets at up to 60% off from the 20th to the 5th of next month. This Lunar New Year includes new items and diversifies limited items available only during the reservation period. The quantity of steady seller items, such as Hanwoo, seafood, and fruits, has been increased by about 20% due to consistent demand.
In particular, the weight of livestock products has been adjusted from the previous 2kg to 1.6kg to reflect the increase in single- and two-person households and the expansion of the holiday travel population. In addition to practical gifts priced between 100,000 won and 200,000 won, seafood products have expanded to include up to high-end gifts priced at 600,000 won.
Shinsegae Department Store will conduct reservation sales for Lunar New Year gift sets from the 20th to the 9th of next month. The reservation quantity this year is 50,000 sets, a 10% increase compared to last year's Lunar New Year. The sales items include 56 agricultural products, 34 livestock products, 29 seafood products, and 28 types of wine, totaling over 260 types. Discounts include 5-10% for Hanwoo, 20% for dried yellow corvina, 10% for fruits, 50% for wine, and up to 60% for health foods.
Hyundai Department Store will also begin reservation sales for Lunar New Year gift sets during the same period, expanding the volume by about 20% compared to last year. This increase is anticipated due to rising demand to purchase gifts in advance at reasonable prices amid high inflation. Hyundai Department Store will offer over 200 popular sets, including Hanwoo, dried yellow corvina, fruits, health foods, and alcoholic beverages, at discounts of up to 30%.
Hyundai Department Store's official online mall 'The Hyundai.com' will reserve sales of Lunar New Year gift sets from the 30th to the 23rd of next month, while Hyundai Home Shopping's online mall 'Hyundai H Mall' will sequentially reserve sales from the 6th to the 23rd of next month.
