The "2026 capital area corporations research council joint seminar," hosted by Seoul Housing and Urban Development Corporation (SH), Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Development Corporation (GH), and Incheon Housing & City Development Corporation (iH) and organized by the Korea Housing Service Society, will be held at 3 p.m. on the 18th at Ferrum Hall, 3rd floor of Ferrum Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul.
This seminar is a venue for the capital area corporations research council, in which SH, GH, and iH participate, to discuss support for communities in public housing and the role of housing services, and anyone can attend without prior registration.
The seminar, under the theme "Beyond public housing providers, toward community designers," will discuss public housing policies and operation plans to address care gaps and social isolation arising from a super-aged society, low birthrate, and the increase in single-person and older households.
Presentations will proceed in the following order: Professor Kim Young-uk of Sejong University's Department of Architecture on "Plans to create urban and housing complexes based on spatial structure analysis for community activation"; Kim Young-guk, senior researcher at the SH Urban Research Institute, on "Operational strategies for public housing community services to realize aging in community (aging in place)"; and Park Seok-gyu, head of iH's Urban Research Team, on "iH childcare and senior community-friendly housing model in response to low birthrate and aging."
Next, Im Gwang-bin, head of GH's Urban Housing Research Department, will serve as moderator and, together with Gi Yoon-hwan, senior research fellow at the Incheon Institute; Nam Won-seok, senior research fellow at the Seoul Institute; Park Gi-deok, research fellow at the Gyeonggi Research Institute; Cho Seung-yeon, principal research fellow at the LH Land & Housing Institute; and Kwon Oh-jeong, co-representative of the Korea Housing Service Society, will discuss ways to support public housing communities.
Hwang Sang-ha, SH president, said, "With the super-aged society, low birthrate, and the increase in single-person households, the importance of care and community within apartment complexes is growing," adding, "Based on the opinions discussed at this seminar, we will continue to review housing services and community support measures for public housing."
