The Construction Association of Korea said on the 14th that it delivered 100 million won in total—50 million won each—to Tongyeong Mayor Kang Seok-joo and Geoje Mayor Byeon Gwang-yong to fund emergency repairs of damaged facilities and aid for displaced residents in Tongyeong and Geoje in South Gyeongsang Province, which were designated special disaster areas after torrential rains in August.
The donation was prepared by the Construction Association of Korea, the Construction Industry Social Contribution Foundation, the Construction Guarantee, and the South Gyeongsang Provincial Chapter of the Construction Association of Korea, and will be used first in areas that suffered severe flood damage.
Attendees at the donation ceremony included Construction Association of Korea President Han Seung-gu; South Gyeongsang Provincial Chapter President Kang Dong-guk; Daegu Metropolitan City Chapter President Lee Seung-hyeon; Ulsan Metropolitan City Chapter President Jang Hong-su; and South Gyeongsang Provincial Chapter Senior Vice President Kim Sang-won.
President Han Seung-gu said, "We extend our deepest condolences to the displaced residents who lost their livelihoods in an instant and fell into despair due to the flooding in Tongyeong and Geoje," and added, "We hope recovery from the flood damage proceeds swiftly so that local residents can quickly regain their daily lives and hope."
