Kumho E&C is expanding its order portfolio beyond housing- and public sector–focused building projects to parking infrastructure, urban mixed-use developments, and advanced industrial facilities.
Kumho E&C said on the 10th it was selected on the 31st as the final bidder for the "KINTEX parking complex building project."
The KINTEX parking complex building project will construct a parking facility with one basement level and eight above-ground floors in Daehwa-dong, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. The total construction cost is about 56.3 billion won. Kumho E&C will serve as the lead company with 60% equity. Work will start this month and is scheduled for completion in Nov. 2028.
In July, Kumho E&C won the "Jangji depot three-dimensional development project" ordered by Seoul Housing and Urban Development Corporation (SH). The total construction cost is about 350.6 billion won. Kumho E&C is the lead company with 50% equity.
The project will maintain the existing Jangji public bus depot function while creating 658 public dwellings along with social overhead capital (SOC) and green space on and above the site. It three-dimensionally utilizes existing facilities such as depots to secure scarce residential land in the city.
Kumho E&C has also entered the advanced industrial facilities sector. Last month it signed a construction contract with Samsung Electronics for the "Samsung Electronics Fläkt Korea plant new construction." The project will build the domestic production facility of Germany's FläktGroup, acquired by Samsung Electronics, in Buk-gu, Gwangju.
The plant will be a single above-ground floor with a total floor area of 23,588㎡, housing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) production facilities, office space, a warehouse, and laboratories. HVAC is a system that integrates cooling, heating, ventilation, and air quality management. It is drawing attention as core infrastructure for advanced industrial facilities such as artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and semiconductor plants.
Kumho E&C plans to strengthen its execution capabilities in the advanced industrial facilities sector by successfully delivering this project. With investment in advanced industries such as AI and semiconductors expanding, it expects construction demand for production facilities and related infrastructure to grow and will actively participate in related projects going forward.
In particular, as the fostering of advanced industries such as semiconductors and AI is gaining momentum in the Honam region, it is also focusing on the related construction market. Based on this project to execute an advanced industrial facility ordered by Samsung Electronics in Gwangju, Kumho E&C plans to actively respond to advanced industry-related projects to be promoted in the Honam region going forward.
A Kumho E&C official said, "We will bolster competitiveness in our core segments and expand into high-growth areas such as advanced industrial facilities to secure new growth drivers for our building business."
